Throughout his childhood, socerr was William's passion. But as he got older, he "sort of stopped following the game altogether" (Kamkwamba 67). THe MTL Nomads were his idols, and when they lost, he starved himself. He started having anxiety attacks during their games, and his health seriously declined. "Soccer is too stressful for my health" (Kamkwamba 67). It was necessary for him to abandon it in order to stay healthy.
Williams dog Khamba was his best friend when William was younger. they did a lot together they went hunting together. But as william got older and started to hang out with his friends he would not allow Khamba to go with. He had to change this habit because his friends thought it was weird for him to be hangning out with a dog. so he thought for him to be cool he had to ditch Khamba.
Since William was the only son in his family, he had to work in the fields with his dad. He would get up before school every morning to break down the ground and show up after school as well. He had to do this because rain wasn't coming as much as usaully so the ground wasn't soft and the heat was blazing in miday.
William's daily life consisted of a lot of hunting and spending time with his uncle's dog Khamba. He went hunting because it helped out his family quite an amount with food, considering they didn't have a lot of money. Necessity motivated him to do so because he needed to to provide for his family.
I agree that necessity helped motivate him but now that he is getting older he is not hunting as much and is hanging out within the marketplace to make new friends and hangout with his current friends
William would go bird hunting with Khamba a lot for fun ant to feed himself, and his family. He would make useful tools like knifes and traps to help kill the birds and to help clean them. Necessity motivated him beacuse when he got older, he started going to the trading center and hanging out with his friends.

Its ture, if it is harming him this severely he shouldnt be too attacehd to it and should move to another interest.
DeleteWilliam also started playing with radios, which I am sure that he started that because he listened to the game on a radio.
DeleteIf he made the radio work than it would be huge in his village

ReplyDeleteTrue, very true. I think that if you do love something, you shouldn't abandon it, even to look cool.
